Carol McArdle Clinic held at BPF this weekend was a huge success! This was the first time I have gotten to ride with Carol and was very impressed with her knowledge of Dressage, her training techniques and exercises. We had a variety of riders from campaigning event riders, Halflinger breeders, Andalusian Riders and Trainers, to very basic amatuer riders. She was fun, motivating, encouraging and very insprising. I especially enjoyed her feed back on my FEI work with Electrizar, she really helped design exercises and pin point where we need to improve for our competition in PSG this season. Then she excited to help me work with our Fiero just starting under saddle getting ready for his first Functionality test this May. Feedback from our Dressage community aduitors was overwhelming and our waiting list for her next clinic is getting full.
If you would like to come and work with Carol in our next clinic, please contact me at 817-205-9268. You will be thrilled you did. Estimated booking date in June and August.

RIDING WITH THE SPANISH RIDING SCHOOL OF VIENNA IN TEXAS
School Master Herr Harald Bauer, July 2006
It was a priviledge and an honor to ride with such a well schooled riding master. Herr Bauer’s instruction is very “Classical” and in the keeping with Dressage training traditions, together we worked on perfecting our shoulder in, travers, renvers, flying changes and collection. Each day my horse became lighter in his cadence, his gaits became free, transisitons crisp and my riding position was improved to allow for the FEI work that lay ahead. His knowledge of the Baroque Horse is incredible and I look forward to his next visit to Texas in January to finish our schooling to prepare for Prix St. George this spring. This is how riding should be taught!

A Weekend With A Master, July 2005
Words really cannot describe how I felt about the my experience participating in Legendary Lessons Reining/Dressage Clinic conducted by the world renown Dressage Master Walter A. Zettl. His love of horses was very apparent with the soft-spoken kinds words of encouragement with each lesson and rider. His open mindedness to help every rider of every discipline get a clearer understanding and feel of a more harmonious communication with their dance partners was just incredible to see.
What I received from my weekend experience is that it doesn’t matter what discipline you ride and or teach, the communication and trust between horse and rider are in the basics the same. We want our horses to trust that we will be soft and patient in our asking, and to DEVELOP are aids in such a way that the horse is not surprised or made nervous by our asking. To have each exercise flow into the next so harmoniously that it appears that the horse and rider are one. That each discipline has something to gain from the other. As each horse and rider progressed through Zettl’s warm-up exercises, the riding became a beautiful dance between the two. Such wonderful cadence and suspension were acheived through the carefully planned progression of exercises explained by Zettl. Reining horses and Dressage horses were performing brilliant relaxed Piaffe, Passage and Flying changes. Riders and horses were relaxed, happy and eager to learn. Zettl showed reiners exercises that would strengthen their horses hind legs and how to make transitions smoother and not so abrupt. It was wonderful to see Zettl’s eye light up as he perfected the reiners in a Dressage riders working canter pirouette into a reining spin, back into a working canter pirouette. Zettl even enjoyed the excitement created by a dynamically preformed sliding stop. Then to see the Dressage riders open their horses up through lightness into even more breathtaking expression was just overwhelming.
I came away with a better, softer, gentler feel of my rein contact, and a well thought out warm up plan to help all my horses become happy and willing dance partners. I loved my experience riding my Andalusian Stallion Electrizar with Walter and will keep with me his words of endearment he had for my stallion and his breed. I believed he enjoyed working with my Baroque child and enjoyed my enthusiasm for his teaching and my love of my horse and Dressage.
Thanks to Susannah Cord and Craig Johnson for dreaming up this concept and hosting this once in a lifetime experience for me and my horse! As Walter would say “Good riding to you and your horse!”
